A 26 -year -old Sydney woman triggered a debate online after saying that people who work from home should not complain about their work. Christy, who works in technology and sales, shared her opinion in a viral video Tiktok, which won more than 74,000 views. According to her, the remote work is a privilege and too much takes it for granted.
“If you work from home, be grateful and you must not complain about your work. If you complain, stop. I don’t want to hear it,” she said.
Christy usually works from home only once a week. But she feels happy when she worked in retail, real estate and hospitality where such a job should be done in person.
“You can’t take someone’s coffee order or lead an open house from the comfort of your home,” he quoted at night.
In working from home, Christ is looking forward to avoiding traffic, going to the gym late and starting dinner early. She said that saving one hour before commuting was a big difference.
Many viewers agreed with her. They shared how their lives improved after moving from jobs in retail, health care or social work to distant roles. One said their weekends finally felt free.
“After 20 years in personal retail, I am ridiculously grateful for my life WFH!” One user said.
According to another user, even one day work from home “game changer”. While some admit that they are still complaining, they also commemorate their luck to enjoy “incredible freedom”.
Much disagrees
But many of them disagreed. One user said everyone should feel free to complain about work. Another, who worked in retail for 15 years, disagreed.
“I complain about what I want, thanks,” the user said.
Some have stressed that working from home work can be just as hard. According to one user, they work until 22:30 without a break for lunch, even if their shift ends at 5 pm.
Others believe that Christ’s view is “privileged”. Working from home does not remove stress, bad bosses or money problems, he says.
