US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Canada over Truth Social and warned against potential trade deals with China.
“If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to ship goods and products to the United States, he is sorely mistaken,” Trump wrote.
Trump has predicted dire consequences if Canada pursues closer economic ties with Beijing. “China will eat Canada alive, absorb it completely, including destroying their businesses, social fabric and general way of life,” he added.
The US president concluded with a direct threat of economic retaliation. “If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately face a 100% tariff on all Canadian goods and products coming into the US”
Trump’s remarks come amid continued tensions over trade policy and supply chains and underscore his aggressive stance on protecting American economic interests from foreign competition.
