The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) and the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore opportunities for collaboration in a number of areas.
The MoU is to jointly contribute in academics, research, training, student exchange and skill development in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) fields for integration and effective adoption and absorption of emerging technologies. It was signed on Saturday (December 20, 2025) in the presence of H. Krishnamurthy, Principal Research Fellow (Retd) of IISc, Bengaluru, who is a member of the Governing Council of both the institutes. Programs for researchers
The institutes agreed to explore areas of collaboration for the public good using their reach and capacity. To begin with, joint Ph. D. programs for researchers in areas beneficial to the banking system such as the digital payments ecosystem, cybersecurity and vulnerability management, adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve customer convenience, security management, cryptography, blockchain, programmable money, fungible/non-fungible tokens, zero-knowledge proof, and API management.
This commitment also aims to enable academics to become industry/banking ready in terms of employability. Other common areas of collaboration could include technology standardization and validation efforts in BFSI, development of domain-specific SLMs, cybersecurity initiatives, including India-specific verification stack and algorithms, and user experience.
