The growing cancer burden in India requires a robust reaction based on data and fair access to care, said the Director of ICMR – the National Institute of Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) during Saturday’s lecture.
Dr. Mathur underlines a lecture on “cancer control: current scenario, strategy and public awareness”, underlines the role of cancer registers, early detection and public awareness in shaping an effective national reaction.
“To effectively reduce cancer burden, it is essential to design strategies based on robust and standardized data,” he said, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen health information systems and expand screening services across both rural and urban India.
Professor of Medical Oncology at MNJ Cancer Hospital Raghunadharao said, “Cancer control is not limited to medical domain. It is every individual in society.”
