Pakistan’s Haris Rauf was banned for two matches while Suryakumar Yadav was fined thirty percent of his match fees and two demerit points as the ICC announced the results of the official hearings regarding the India vs Pakistan matches during the Asia Cup.
The hearing was conducted by members of the ICC’s elite panel of umpires following incidents during matches between the arch-rivals on September 14, 21 and 28. Suryakumar was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with conduct that brings the game into disrepute.
Sahibzada Farhan was found guilty of the same offense and given an official warning and one point for his gun celebration after scoring a fifty against India during a Super 4 match in Dubai. Arshdeep Singh was found not guilty of the alleged violation of Article 2 as his gesture after India’s victory in the Super 4 clash went viral.
Jasprit Bumrah made the same gesture used by Rauf during the Super 4 match after dismissing the Pakistan bowler and accepting his penalty of one demerit point.
DECISIONS OF THE ICC
14 Sep 2025 – India Vs. Pakistan
After a hearing conducted by ICC match referee Richie Richardson:
- Suryakumar Yadav (India) was found guilty of violating Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which concerns behavior that detracts from the game. He was fined 30 percent of his match fee and awarded two demerit points.
- S. Farhan (Pakistan) was found guilty of the same offense and issued with an official warning, receiving one penalty point.
- Haris Rauf (Pakistan) was also found guilty of the same offense and fined 30 percent of his match fee, resulting in two forfeit points.
21 Sep 2025 – India Vs. Pakistan
After a hearing conducted by ICC Match Referee Andy Pycroft:
- Arshdeep Singh (India) was found not guilty of an alleged violation of Article 2.6, which concerns using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or offensiveand therefore no penalty was imposed.
28 Sep 2025 – Final, India Vs. Pakistan
- Jasprit Bumrah (India) accepted a charge under Article 2.21 for behavior that detracts from the game and the proposed sanction of a formal warning, which resulted in one demerit point. Since he accepted the sanction, no formal hearing was required.
- Haris Rauf (Pakistan) was again found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 after a hearing conducted by ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson. He was fined 30 percent of his match fee and given an additional two merit points.
