He also urged all healthcare providers to strictly adhere to rational regulations for children, and also emphasize the importance of sensitization
IAP Kerala has issued this instructions for parents and pediatricians after the Director of Drug Director in India (DCGI) that the syrup coughs should not be prescribed for children under two years.
“The DGCI directive should be perceived in a broader sense as a warning that should adhere to the rational regulation of medicinal products, especially for small children. Parents would strictly drop random over -the -counter cough and cold management regulations.
IAP advises that pediatricians do not prescribe combined cough syrups and cold medicines for children under 2 years. Their use in older children must adhere to careful clinical evaluation, narrow supervision and strict adherence to suitable dosing, the shortest effective duration and avoiding irrational combinations of drugs.
