On Friday, the United States President Donald Trump described India-USA’s ties as a “very special relationship” on September 5, which ensures that “he will always be friends” with Prime Minister Narendra Modim. At the same time, Trump expressed my displeasure over some “recent events” of PM Modi and indicated differences despite the overall heat.
His softer tone for PM Modi and his “special relationship” with India came several days after depositing 50 % of tariffs, referring to business relations in Nový Delhi with Russia. The US had previously set 25 % of duties on Indian imports and subsequently increased them to 50 % for Indian ties with Russia.

When Trump was asked if he was ready to “reset ties with India” because the links between the two countries continue to wind the worst phase for more than two decades, the US President said, “I will always. I will always be friends with (PM) modi.
“But India and the United States have a very special relationship. There is nothing to worry about. We only have moments,” Trump said.
Trump ‘very disappointed’
Trump also said he was “very disappointed” that India would buy “so much oil” from Russia.
“I was very disappointed that India would buy so much oil from Russia, and I let them know. We put a very large tariff on India, 50 % tariff, very high tariff. I go very well with (PM Narendra) modi.
In Trump’s Social Post, Trump said, “It looks like we have lost India and Russia to the deepest, darkest, China. It can have a long and prosperous future together!”
Trump also published an old PM modi photo with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader XI Jinping.
Trump’s contribution on social media came days after Bonhomy between Modi, XI and Putin at the Summit of the Organization for Cooperation in Shanghai (SCO) in the Chinese city of Tianjin captured global attention.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Trump Administration for Trade and Production Peter Navarro, in post X, said the highest tariffs in India stood US jobs. “India buys Russian oil purely for profit/revenue feeds a Russian war machine. Ukrainians/Russians die. US taxpayers are more broadcast. India cannot handle the truth/turn,” Navarro said.
The director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hassett said that Trump and his business team are disappointed that India continues to “finance” the Russian war in Ukraine.
“I think the business team and the president are disappointed that India continues to finance the Russian war in Ukraine, and hopefully this is a diplomatic problem that will soon have positive development,” Hassett told journalists in the White House on Friday.
