Video of a man claiming to be quit ₹42,000,000,000 a year in businesses has gone viral on social media and sparked heated debate about money, self-worth and life in high-pressure workplaces.
The video, shared with a reflective caption, shows Shivam Lakhanpal speaking candidly about walking away from what many would consider a dream salary. “It was a good pay cheque,” he wrote, adding that he didn’t hear a simple “Aur weekend kaisa tha?” after a long time – a line that resonated with many viewers online.
In the clip, Lakhanpal argues that wealth cannot be measured by money alone. The man says he quit his corporate role a few months ago, even though he was making money ₹42 lakh a year, he claims that he now feels more confident and self-assured than ever before when he was employed.

Describing his time in the corporate world, Lakhanpal says he felt like a “need” person, constantly trying to please superiors and navigate office politics to climb the ladder. “I was whispering sweet nothings into my right ears,” he says in the video, suggesting that he felt diminished rather than fulfilled in the work environment.
He also claims that even without a steady income, he feels more in control of his life. “I don’t answer to anyone. I do what I want. I’m not bound by anyone else’s rules,” he says, insisting that financial uncertainty has not shaken his sense of identity.

One moment from the video that has been widely discussed online is his reasoning for the purchase ₹18k car while he is still at his job. He recalls feeling unworthy the first time he drove to the office with him, saying he didn’t feel “man enough” to sit in the car because he associated it with a life that felt empty and efficient.

That feeling changed the moment he finished, he said. He says he now drives the same car with confidence and likens the experience to owning a “Batmobile” — not because of the speed, but because of the renewed sense of ownership and confidence.
The video divided social media users. While many praised the man for prioritizing peace of mind and self-respect over money, others questioned the practicality of celebrating unemployment, pointing to the financial responsibilities, privileges and risks of leaving high-paying roles without a clear alternative.
One user wrote: “Don’t just follow him blindly and leave your job! He may have a lot of other sources of income, earned assets, saved wealth and now started creating content and getting regular expenses from what he could earn here.”
