Indian pacer Harshit Rana has revealed how he handled setbacks in his formative years. After making his debut in India in 2024, The pacer faced criticism for his failures in between. Harshit was a favorite of Indian coach Gautam Gambhir and he repaid the faith reposed in him by becoming a wicket-taker in the white-ball format. The pacer has 23 wickets in 13 ODIs at an average of 27.3 and seven wickets in six T20Is.
Harshit showed confidence in bouncing back from trolling that he won and was part of last year’s Indian Champions Trophy and Asia Cup triumphs. In an interview with MensXP, Temper said he struggled a lot in his forms in terms of handling setbacks and cried in front of his dad every day.
Harshit said his father kept pushing him.
“Now I know how to handle failure. I saw those ten years when nothing happened. I would go to courts and my name wouldn’t come. I would come back and cry every day in front of my dad. So now I think failure is gone; whatever comes, I can handle it. I gave up. But dad literally kept pushing me,” said Harshit.
‘Virat, Rohit challenge me in the nets’
Harshit also revealed the experience of being in the team alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Temper said that India’s star duo constantly challenges him in the nets so that he can peak while bowling.
“Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. Even though I play them lightly, there is competition when they come to bat in the nets and they challenge me to do things, so I also get to my peak to bowl,” Harshit said.
Harshit has done well in the ongoing series against New Zealand, where his all-round skills have helped him win the match in Baroda. Temper is part of India’s squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which begins in February.
