Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Heinrich Klaasen found himself in the limelight after a video of him warning a fan for filming his family went viral on social media. The South African cricketer looked visibly irritated in the clip and was seen strongly asking the individual to stop the recording and respect their privacy before the situation escalated further.
Klaasen, who is known to be extremely protective of his personal space and family time, recently retired from international cricket commitments to prioritize life outside the game after his retirement from the international arena.
In the widely circulated video, Klaasen is heard for the first time issuing a clear warning: “Listen to me very carefully. Don’t do it, okay. I told you, no, please go away. Thank you very much, but don’t take pictures.”
He then ups the ante as the fan continues to record with the camera facing down: “If I turn around and you take a picture of me and my family, I promise you we’ll be on the floor. Okay, turn around and leave, please.”
One guy was recording Klaasen even though he said no, then he went up to him and said
“Don’t do that, if I turn around and see you snapping at me and my family, I promise you’ll be on the floor the next minute.

As the exchange continues and the fan walks away from him, camera still on, Klaasen reiterates his stance more firmly, saying: “Oh, listen to me very carefully. Stop. Okay. I told you no photos. This is my family. Okay. Put the camera down.”
PLAYER PRIVACY UNDER SCANNER?
The incident sparked a strong reaction onlinewith fans and followers coming out in support of Klaasen over the disapproving filming of him and his family. They criticized fans watching people in the country forget the concept of boundaries and privacy – especially when athletes spend private time with their families.
The video continues to spread across platforms, reigniting discussions about player privacy, the growing presence of cameras in public spaces and the fine line between fan enthusiasm and intrusion into personal lives.
Meanwhile, Klaasen continues to rain storms on bowlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League season, scoring 414 runs in nine innings at an average of 59.14. While his strike rate has come under scrutiny, Klaasen has been least bothered by it as he continues to help his team up the scoreboard. He currently strikes at 157.41, being second on the Orange Cap list behind teammate Abhishek Sharma.
He will be next in action when SRH host Kolkata Knight Riders at the Uppal Stadium on Sunday, May 3.
