Tyler Robinson allegedly left a note for his friend before he went to shoot Charlie Kirk, ABC News reported. Tyler Robinson is accused of shooting a right-wing political activist on a Utah university campus last September, a crime that shocked America and sent waves of grief in right-wing political circles.
In the message, unsealed court documents revealed, Robinson allegedly told his friend that he had the opportunity to “take out” Charlie Kirk and that he “took it.”
“I had an opportunity to knock Charlie Kirk out and I took it,” he said.
How it developed on the day of the killing – “I’m probably dead”
On September 10, 2025, the day Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk, he texted his friend: “Stop what you’re doing, look under my keyboard.”
During the interrogation, a friend of Tyler Robinson said he looked under the keyboard and found a handwritten letter.
In the letter, Robinson apologized to his friend and revealed that he had left home “on a mission” that morning.
The letter read: “If you’re reading this from my text, I’m so sorry. I left the house this morning on a mission and set up an automatic text.”
“I’m probably dead or facing a long prison sentence. I had an opportunity to get Charlie Kirk away and I took it. I don’t know if I could/did, but I was hoping to get home to you. I wish we could live in a world where that wasn’t necessary,” it read.
Meanwhile, investigators investigating Charlie Kirk’s murder can’t connect the bullet that killed him to the rifle they believe was used by a single suspect.
“The defense was provided with an ATF summary report indicating that ATF was unable to identify the bullet recovered in the autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr. Robinson,” the March 27 court document said.
The lawyers also questioned the DNA evidence that was presented in the case, which the ATF and FBI said may have consisted of “a mixture of up to ‘five or more'” individuals.
The Killing of Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck while attending an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. His shocking death was caught on video.
While Robinson fled, he turned himself in days later after his family allegedly convinced him to do so.
