US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he would release the results of his October MRI.
“If you want it out, I’ll let it go,” the Republican president said during an exchange with reporters as he traveled back to Washington from Florida, the AP reported.
He said the MRI results were “perfect”.
Trump is the oldest person ever to assume the presidency of the United States, and the job has clearly weighed on him since his second term began in January.
The White House declined to say why Trump had an MRI or on what part of his body during a physical in October. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president received “advanced imaging” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center “as part of his routine physical” and that the results showed Trump remains in “exceptional physical health.”
Trump added on Sunday that he had “no idea” what parts of his body he had an MRI on. “It was just an MRI,” he said. “What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took the cognitive test and I passed it. I got a perfect score that you wouldn’t be able to do.”
There are unanswered questions about Trump’s health, particularly why he underwent an MRI in October and what it showed. Photos of his swollen ankles and a large bruise on his right hand also sparked speculation.
Is Trump unhealthy?
In early November, Trump also boasted on his Truth Social platform that he had recently undergone a “PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAM AND COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE TEST (‘That was aced’) WHICH WAS RECENTLY NOW.”
“I’ve never worked so hard in my life. But despite all that, radical left-wing lunatics did a hit on me in the early New York Times that I might be losing energy, despite the facts to the contrary,” the 79-year-old Republican wrote.
Trump continues to dominate the media spotlight, often attending lengthy press conferences, a stark contrast to his predecessor, Joe Biden, who left office at 81.
While the White House PR team continues to promote an image of Trump as unusually energetic — going so far as to create AI-generated images of him as a muscular superhero or warrior — the Republican appears to be slowing down, AFP reported.
According to a report in The Times, compared to his first term, Trump has greatly reduced public events and domestic travel and has generally kept to a public schedule of noon to 5 p.m.
At a televised event in the Oval Office earlier this month, Trump was even seen taking a short nap.
