“I am a strong aspirant for the post of government minister and I believe the high command will consider my candidature,” Congress MLA Yashavantaraygouda V Patil said in Vijayapur on Monday.
“Some senior leaders have promised me that I will become a minister in time. I expect that they will keep their promise and make me a minister in the coming reshuffle. But if I am not a minister, I will not leave the Congress. I am a loyal party worker and will remain here till my last breath,” Mr Patil, who hails from India, told a reporter in Vijaapura.
He claimed that three legislators were thus promised.
He claimed that no elected representative from Indi taluk had ever served as a minister in the state cabinet since independence. “I will get a chance, I will work harder to develop my taluk,” he said.
“I am completing 38 years in public life. I have been a zilla panchayat member four times and an MLA four times. I have conducted myself with utmost integrity. My political career has been without a single black spot. No one can raise doubts about my work,” he said.
