The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Wednesday cleared encroachments on government land in Jubilee Hills and Khanamet.
In Jubilee Hills, 150 square yards of a two-acre park has been encroached upon by a tenant running a women’s hostel in a nearby house. HYDRAA’s statement said the person had built rooms on 50 square yards of land adjacent to the existing building. Another 100 square yards were fenced off and used as a private park.
Based on the complaints of local residents in Prajavani, the officials after field inspection along with GHMC authorities confirmed the encroachment, pulled down the structure and erected fencing. A police case has been registered.
In a separate case, five acres allotted by the government to the All India Velama Association near the Hitec Exhibition Grounds in Khanamet have been secured from encroachments. After the High Court, after objections, allowed the stand on the plot, the representatives of the association complained about attempts by local residents to encroach on the plot. HYDRAA conducted an inspection and fenced off the five-acre property and installed signboards to prevent trespassing on the court’s orders.
