The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday reclaimed 20 acres of government land in two operations in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
In the first case, the agency secured about seven acres of government land, which included a water body, in the Mohammed Nagar-Lalita Bagh area of Kandikal village in Bandlaguda Jagir. The 9.11 acres of original land surrounded by a densely populated residential area has been in legal dispute for some time. Two acres were encroached upon and houses were built on the property.
Attempts are being made to encroach on the remaining seven acres by filling in a body of water, the existence of which HYDRAA has confirmed from Survey of India maps. A statement from HYDRAA informed that the illegal resident was fined CZK 1,000,000 for filing a false case, despite this, he continues to claim the land.
HYDRAA has also acquired another plot of land in Nizampet on the request of revenue department officials, an agency statement said. On the instructions of HYDRAA chief AV Ranganath, HYDRAA officials conducted a field inspection and concluded that four acres of land had already been occupied where permanent residential structures had come up. Without touching those homes, the agency removed temporary structures from the remaining 13 acres of land and provided fencing and signboards.
