In two separate operations on Monday, the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) cleared encroachments from nine acres of government land.
In the first case, the agency secured land allotted to Telangana Agro Industries Development Corporation in Moula Ali and Nacharam villages in Medchal Malkajgiri district.
After receiving a request from the corporation chairman to encroach on four acres of land, HYDRAA officials conducted a field inspection and confirmed the encroachments.
Without removing occupied dwellings, HYDRAA forces removed compound walls and sheds at the site, which was being used as a scrap yard, the press reported.
Through another operation in Miyapur, HYDRAA forces secured five acres of government land in Makta Mahabubpet village near Makta Mahabub Kunta Lake, which was being used for parking private buses and for commercial shutters. A survey by HYDRAA revealed that the land was occupied, indicating false survey numbers, the press reported.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath noted that encroachment on government land by showing fake survey numbers has become the modus operandi of land grabbers. Even though they cannot get any construction permission without valid title deeds, renting out such land for illegal sheds and bus parking has resulted in crores of rupees for encroachers. In any case, Mr. Ranganath said such interventions are managed with the tacit support of local officials or political leaders.
HYDRAA is making sure that such lands are fenced with boards installed and monitored by HYDRAA against future encroachments, Mr. Ranganath noted.
