The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday cleared encroachments from six parks in a single colony.
At Bhagyalakshmi colony in Qutbullapur mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, a layout of 80 acres of land with 810 plots was created in 1968 where 10 plots were earmarked for parks. The developer took advantage of the high-voltage power lines that ran through the layout and set aside land under the lines for parks. About 20 years ago, power lines feeding the Jeedimetla industrial area were removed, opening the land to encroachment.
As directed by Commissioner AV Ranganath, HYDRAA officials conducted a field inspection and confirmed the locations in the park. On Friday, encroachments were removed in six neighboring parks and fencing was erected around the 2,260-square-yard property. HYDRAA signs have been installed marking the lot as a parking space.
On the same day, HYDRAA also secured 1,452 square yards of parkland spread over 10 acres at Gudmalkapur. The 83-plot layout was done decades ago by the AG Office Cooperative Housing Society. The area of the park was encroached upon for the operation of businesses and used for parking. After verification, HYDRAA cleared the encroachments and fenced off the property and installed signs marking the park, the statement said.
