Hyderabad Disaster Rester & Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) has launched a new initiative called “Basthi Tho enough” (friendship with slums) to expand awareness of its activities in urban slums.
The first program within this initiative took place in Toli Chowki, where Hydraa cleared the section of the Bulkapur drain and removed tons of garbage and mud.
Commissioner Hydraa Av Ranganath, addressed several representatives of the surrounding slums, said the agency was always on the side of an ordinary man.
He urged people to face narration against Hydraa, which spreads ground grants. The poor houses of the poor would never be pulled down, and if they had to be pulled down, Hydraa would only continue after the inhabitants were provided alternative housing, he added.
Mr. Ranganath said that areas like Virat Nagar and Basava Tarakam Nagar in Shaikpet and Tolichowki will be flooded for waste and mud accumulated over the years, including mattresses, pillows and plastic waste. CCTV cameras will be installed throughout the drain of Bulkapur, as a discouraging means to people who drag out the drain.
Hydraa Another director of Varla Papaiah said that a total of 750 slums in the city is susceptible to floods, and Hydraa will take to clean the runoff at all these places.
