Hyderabad has witnessed a 17% decline in total crime, and the number of registered cases fell from 38 206 between September 2023 and August 2024 to 31,533 during the same period in 2024–25, according to the Commissioner of the Police Ciography of Anand.
At a meeting of crime, which took place on Sunday (September 28), Mr. Anand has a decline in coordinated efforts of officers and employees across the Commissioner. He said that the commitment of the police forces ensured peace and security in the city, allowing festivals, parades and public meetings without failures.
The data provided at the meeting showed a reduction in several categories of crime. Murders decreased from 85 to 73, which represents a 14%decline, while the murder attempts dropped by 29%, from 259 to 185. Injuries incidents dropped by 15%, kidnapping by 12%and computer crime by 14%. The detection rate for computer crime has also improved and increased from 40% to 42%.
Property offenses have seen a remarkable decline and decreased from 5,484 cases to 4,082, which is 26% reduction. Robbers dropped by 46%, the murders dropped by 40%, theft decreased by 27%, while burglary of houses slightly dropped by 2%. The total renewal rate in assets has improved slightly from 54% to 55%.
Crimes against women showed mixed trends. Cases of rape fell from 632 to 485, which meant a 23% decline, while the outrage of modesty fell by 20%. The kidnapping cases also fell by 10%. However, the death of the dowry increased from 11 to 13, 18% increase, and cases of harassment only reported a marginal decline of 1%.
Mr. Anand, who praised teamwork in strength, said: “Hyderabad’s Municipal Police collaborated as a team to protect peace and safety and achieve remarkable results. We have shown that we can achieve everything with collective efforts.
The meeting was attended by higher officials, including other police commissioners Vikram Singh Mann and P. Vishwa Prasad, a joint commissioner of police operation D. Joel Davis, a common commissioner of the police administration of Paimal Hana Nutan and other DCPs from various zones and wings.
