Hyderabad police to deploy 2,500 people for Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu festival

The Hyderabad Police has deployed 2,500 personnel and implemented artificial intelligence surveillance and extensive crowd management measures for the Shree Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu festival in Secunderabad, ensuring a safe and hassle-free darshan for devotees.

The measures were announced during a series of coordination meetings held by the Secunderabad zone police on Saturday with Shivashaktulu and Joginis, members of the Shree Ujjaini Mahankali Temple Committee and representatives of the print and electronic media.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Secunderabad Zone) Rakshitha Krishna Murthy said elaborate arrangements have been made in collaboration with various government departments to ensure smooth running of the festival.

Special queues have been earmarked for Joginis with entry from Bata Road, while two dedicated coordination teams will assist Joginis and Shivashaktula during the festivities. Two separate queues were also arranged for women carrying the Bonala, with access from Bata Road and Rocha Bazaar, apart from two general queues for devotees and two reserved queues for pass holders.

Police said special security arrangements will be made for the Rangam program including Swarnalatha, while ensuring that the darshan of the general public continues uninterrupted even during VIP visits.

To strengthen security, 10 plainclothes crime teams will be deployed from July 31 to identify suspects and prevent crimes. The temple premises and surrounding areas will be under constant CCTV surveillance of the Mahankali Police Station.

Ms Murthy said CCTV cameras with artificial intelligence will also be used to detect suspicious movements, with immediate action whenever required. She added that the police have made comprehensive arrangements to ensure that devotees face minimum inconvenience during the annual Bonal celebrations.
