Hyderabad-based NGO Unicorpus Health Foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary by launching an affordable Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Unicorpus Word and Deed Hospital in Pedda Amberpet, Hayathnagar on Saturday. The ICU facility was named after physician Iris Paul.
“Unaffordable critical care often forces families into debt and pushes many into poverty. The new ICU was introduced to address this access gap,” the NGO said in a report.
The hospital offers specialty and super specialty consultations along with inpatient, surgical and rehabilitation services at prices aimed at serving marginalized communities. Over the past ten years, the NGO has treated more than 40,000 patients. Over the past three years, the hospital has performed over 500 operations, including more than 50 cataract procedures, and provided physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to more than 800 patients.
