Since December 2, more than 1,000 IndiGo flights have been canceled across the country, while several others have been delayed.
Hundreds of passengers are facing problems at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and several IndiGo flights are facing delays and cancellations.
One of them said that she reached around 5:00 am and went to the IndiGo counter. The staff said her flight had been cancelled. When she showed her boarding pass, they allegedly insisted that the flight would not be operated.
“They told me the flight was canceled when it wasn’t. I asked, ‘Are you sure?’ I showed my boarding pass and they said ‘Yes. Very sure. Your flight is cancelled. Please come back home,” said ANI.
“Around seven o’clock someone calls me from the boarding gate and says: “Ma’am, where are you? Your flight is about to depart.” I said the IndiGo staff sent me back home. Now tell me if they say the flight is cancelled, of course I’ll believe it, right?” added the passenger.
The woman said she did not understand how such a mistake could have happened. She wondered if the airline wanted to adjust passengers from earlier canceled flights or deal with overbooking.
“I don’t know if they have some sinister plan to get, maybe, some people from yesterday who are stuck, or maybe it’s overcrowded. I don’t know. But I’ve never heard of such a situation in my life,” said the passenger.
“Now I’m back and I’m standing in this long line…” she added.
IndiGo: Flights to Delhi cancelled
IndiGo has canceled all domestic flights departing from Delhi airport on December 5.
“To support our affected customers, we offer them refreshments, other available flight options according to their preferences, hotel accommodation, assistance with collecting their luggage and refunds where applicable,” the airline said in a statement.
IndiGo said the flight disruptions were “unavoidable”, blaming the delays and cancellations on technology issues, airport congestion and operational needs. According to the airline, its employees are working diligently to resolve the issues and resume operations as soon as possible.
IndiGo says affected passengers will receive alternate flights or refunds depending on the situation. Apologies for the inconvenience caused to their “valued customers”.
