Doctors in Hyderabad hospital successfully treated a 26 -year -old pregnant woman who was diagnosed with a placenta percreta, a rare and life -threatening complication during pregnancy.
Placenta Percreta is a form of abnormal placental attachment, where the placenta penetrates the uterus and attacks near organs such as bladder or intestine. The condition, usually diagnosed late in pregnancy, can lead to bleeding during labor and represents serious risks for both mother and child.
In this case, the woman had no symptoms and was diagnosed during routine scanning between the 30th and 32th week of her pregnancy. “The scans revealed that the placenta spread itself to the uterus and was firmly attached to the bladder,” Dr. Himabindu, obstetrician consultant, gynecologist and laparoscopic surgeon of birth right.
“The entire operation lasted approximately six hours. It was not a bladder or surrounding organs and the total blood loss was only 500 ml, which corresponds to a routine C-cut. No transfusions were needed, which is extremely rare in such cases.
