The official X account of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad was hacked on Monday (October 19, 2026), with several posts appearing on its timeline promoting a cryptocurrency-related reward program.

Authorities at the GMR Hyderabad International Airport later regained access to X’s account and took steps to remove the unauthorized posts.

A statement from the airport said, “RGIA Hyderabad has immediately resolved the incident of unauthorized access to its official X account. The account has been restored and is fully functional. The incident has been reported to the relevant cybercrime and X authorities and a detailed investigation is underway. We would like to clarify that the X account is not integrated into airport systems. Hence, there is no impact on airport operations, passenger services or operational systems.”

At around 1:30am, airport operator X, ‘@RGIAHyd’, posted posts promoting ‘StonkFun Season 1’, an eligibility check linked to the Stonk app and the Solana cryptocurrency ecosystem. The posts tagged several social media accounts and included an image promoting the program. The posts described StonkFun as an activity-based rewards program and urged users to check their eligibility, saying the check would only remain open for one day.
