(Bloomberg) – Hurricane Erin is likely to increase because it spews around the Bahamas, avoids Earth, but increases the risk of high winds and floods hundreds of kilometers away along the beaches in North Carolina.
The best winds of Erin measured 140 miles (225 kilometers) per hour on Monday, making it a 4th 4 storm on a five-speed Saffir-Simpson scale, the US National Hurricane Center at 17:00 in New York said.
Hurricane-first of the six-month season of the Atlantic-ranging 695 miles (1 1220 kilometers) southwest of Bermuda and moved in northwest about 10 km / h (17 km / h). The heavy rain was predicted to Tuesday for the Turks and Caicos, Hispaniola – including Haiti and the Dominican Republic – and the Eastern Bahamas.
If Erin holds on his forecast track, he will avoid a direct strike on one of the islands in the area or on the east coast of the US. It is expected to follow the shallow arch C through the western Atlantic, who passes between North Carolina and Bermuda overnight on Wednesday to Thursday.
While Erin will not directly interfere with states on the east coast, the inhabitants of the coast will know that the storm is passing by, the National Meteorological Service said. Dangerous surfing, floods and damage to the beach and coast are expected in North Carolina, where local officials began to order tourists and residents to evacuate from some barrier islands of external banks.
“Numerous roads will probably be impassable under a few feet of water and the vehicles are likely to be submerged,” said the National Meteorological Service in Briefing, adding that floods could start in North Carolina on Tuesday.
In the Coast Region Dare, North Carolina, crews began to remove lifeguards and cans from local beaches and sandblast fortifications to prevent their heating heavy waves.
Storm Surge – in combination with local tides – could cause water to rise to four feet (1.2 meters) above the ground, the meteorological service said with the possibility that the wind arrived in 45 miles / h on Wednesday evening.
Coast floods and tear currents are also expected in several other countries, including Virginia and Florida north to New York, where the waves can comb more than 20 feet per long Island on Thursday and Friday.
Government New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said he was expected to heal along the Jersey coast on Monday.
“We invite residents and visitors to avoid wading and swimming in the ocean, especially when lifeguards are out of service,” Murphy said.
Erin’s winds increased rapidly over the weekend to reach 160 miles / h, making it a storm with a scale of 5 and one of the first examples of such a powerful system that will appear this year in the Atlantic. In July 2024 Beryl became the earliest hurricane that achieved the highest intensity during the Atlantic season.
The wind winds of Erina Hurricane stretch 80 km from its center and the winds of the tropical-bush 39 mph to 73 mph reaches 230 miles, or slightly larger than the distance between Washington and New York.
Erin’s highest winds can still move up when the storm travels on warm waters that can provide additional fuel. But due to the “less favorable cut over the system, it is likely that American hurricane specialist Richard Pasch wrote in a forecast analysis.
While Erin barely grazing Puerto Rico and the virgin islands, she still knocked out many people. On Monday afternoon there were about 6% of Puerto Rico population without power, Luma Energy reported.
For the Turks and Caicos Islands, as well as southeast Bahamas, a warning of a tropical storm was sent.
Another tropical wave that carries tracking moves from Africa to the Atlantic, said Dan Pydynowski, a meteorologist with Commercial Forecaster Accuweather Inc.
The patch of thunderstorms and showers was near Cabo Verde on the African coast and moved west across the Atlantic, with 60% chances to become a storm in the next week.
This part of the ocean, between the Caribbean and Africa, is known as the main development area for predictions, and there have been formed some of the deadliest and harmful storms of history. It is also a part of the ocean that becomes particularly active between mid -August and in the end of September.
