The three-day Datta Jayanti celebrations concluded on Thursday with hundreds of devotees from Chikkamagalur and neighboring districts visiting Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swami Dargah atop Bababudangiri in Chikkamagalur taluk.
Devotees wearing saffron shawls lined up to enter the cave shrine and paid homage to Datta Paduk. The event included a special pooja by a group of priests in the shrine premises. This time the event was jointly conducted by members of Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Srirama Sene.
As part of the event, Shobha Yatre was held in Chikkamagalur town on Wednesday and Anasuya Jayanti was held on Tuesday. Chikkamagalur district administration arranged the event. In view of the incident, the entry of tourists and heavy vehicles has been stopped on the narrow roads that lead to the hill stations. Police have been deployed in the hill station to avoid any inconvenience.
Former minister CT Ravi, Sriram Sene leader Pramod Mutalik and several others attended the celebration. Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj, SP Vikram Amathe and other senior officers were present.
