More than one lakh devotees participated in the annual Chakrateertham festival held near the Srimukhalingam temple in Srikakulam district on Wednesday.
Devotees take a sacred bath in the Vamsadhara river and offer prayers to the processional deities, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati Devi. The procession covered nearly four kilometers from the temple premises to the river Vamsadhara and pilgrims joined the procession.
The head priest of Srimukhalingam Naidugari Rajasekhar and others performed abhishekham to the deities and coordinated the arrangements for the festival.
Elaborate security arrangements were made by the police department along the procession route and in the surrounding areas of the river to prevent any untoward incident.
