Former England seamer Stuart Broad has issued a stark warning to England ahead of their semi-final clash with India, picking Hardik Pandya as the player who could swing the contest in a decisive way.Broad emphasized that Pandya’s impact goes far beyond the numbers on the scoreboard. The Indian all-rounder has a rare ability to change the tempo of a match, be it with power shots late in the innings or delivering crucial overs with the ball. According to Broad, Pandya relishes high-pressure scenarios and carries a confidence that energizes those around him.

The semi-final also represents another layer of comfort for Pandya as it will be played at his home venue of the IPL. Familiarity with the surface and conditions, combined with strong crowd support, could further enhance his influence on the game.Offering a tactical perspective, Broad suggested that England need to be smart when Pandya takes to the crease. He believes the key is to force him to fire earlier than he would ideally prefer, before he can slide smoothly into his devastating finishing role.“If I’m an England bowler, I think I need to get him in after 12 overs so I can mix it up when he’s not in the strike zone straight away. He might think I’d like to have a look at a couple before I go at the end. I’d see it as my chance to get him out before he can hurt me in the last four overs. If India are only three or four down, you go into 20 overs and get into 20 overs,” Broad he said on the For the Love of Cricket podcast.Broad further explained that Pandya will become especially dangerous if India lay a solid foundation in the first half of the innings. With a solid platform, the confidence and presence of a versatile player can take over the game.“If India bowl a good first ten overs, Hardik Pandya becomes a huge danger. When he walks in, he is extremely confident. He has an aura and a positive ego. He just believes he can do it. He is so wiry and lean that you wonder how he can hit the ball 100 meters like he does. But he does it so effortlessly.”
