HPCL, IOCL launches 5kg, 10kg LPG cylinders in Chennai

HP Gas customers in the city can now buy more affordable Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) composite cylinders as the company has launched cylinders in 5 kg and 10 kg variants for consumers.
Company sources said that initially the lightweight and non-corrosive HP Navya pressure cylinders will be available in Kilpauk, Anna Nagar, Meenambakkam and Velachery. “Consumers can see the amount of cooking gas inside the bottle. It is much lighter than regular steel bottles and can be easily handled by anyone. We will gradually expand HP Navya to other areas,” said a company official.
Three agencies — Sri Ganesh Gas Service, Kilpauk; Annai Meenakshi, Anna Nagar; and Savitha Gas, Adambakkam – will store and supply these variants.
Dharmendra Kumar Behura, General Manager – South Zone, LPG, HPCL launched the pressure cylinders at an event in the city. The company is likely to make them available through online delivery apps soon. At current prices, a 5 kg cylinder will cost ₹3,500 and a 10 kg cylinder will cost ₹5,002.
Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) on Saturday started express delivery of 5 kg and 10 kg LPG cylinders across the country, including Coimbatore. Indane XTRALITE NOW comes with express delivery service and minimal documentation.
Customers can register for new connections and book top-ups through IndianOil ONE app and IndianOil Customer website (with WhatsApp booking facility (7588888824) to be introduced soon.
