In a tectonic shift in Tamil Nadu politics, baby Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)led by actor C. Joseph Vijay, emerged as the largest party in the Council elections 2026won or leading in 107 of 234 constituencies as of 9pm on Monday – 11 seats short of a majority.
A detailed analysis shows that while the two Dravidian majors retained some of their core vote, the debutant party swept the votes against the government and those seeking an alternative to the established Dravidian order.
