Digilocker is a cloud storage service for government-issued files created by the Department of Electronics and IT (MEITY) under Digital India Corporation (DIC). It uses your aadhaar card as an identifier and allows you to digitize the document and always make it available, provided you have an internet connection. These digitized documents are considered to be comparable to original physics and are accepted by railways, traffic police, and more recently passport services. Therefore, we have summarized a step-by-step guide on how to upload documents to Digilocker.
Digilocker can issue documents and upload documents. A issued document is electronic information issued directly from the original source to an individual by a government agency. These documents are stored in the published documents section as URLs. As the name implies, uploaded documents are documents that are uploaded individually to the Digilocker account. These can include .pdf, .jpeg, and .png files with sizes less than 10MB.
How to upload documents to Digilocker through website
You will be asked to enter your full name, date of birth, gender, mobile phone number, email ID and AADHAAR number. You will also need to set a six-digit pin that will act as the password. Click submit After completion.
The OTP will be sent to your registration number.
Enter OTP and click submit.
You will now be asked to enter your username. Click submit Once done, your account should be created.
You will be redirected to the Digilocker homepage. Click Upload document Options on the left side of the page.
Select the file you want to upload from your computer and click Open. You can also select multiple files.
These files will now be available in the Upload Documents section.
You can also select the document type to upload the file. In front of the file, there will be a selected DOC type option. Click it and it will display a list of current document types that you can use, such as electricity bills, dependency certificates, integration certificates, ID certificates, and more.
How to upload documents to Digilocker through an app
- Log in to the Digilocker application.
- On the dashboard, click the burger menu in the upper left.
- choose Upload document.
- Click Upload The button is at the top next to the menu button.
- You will be asked to let the application access your files.
- Next, choose document or Content from other applicationsdepending on what you want to upload.
- Selecting “File” will take you to your phone’s storage (in the app), from where you can navigate to the file, select it, and then click Upload.
- Content from other apps will open the phone’s default file browser.
