
If you often send sensitive and secret messages on Gmail and want there is a way to stop people from forwarding emails to others, then Gmail’s confidential mode may be an important feature for you. It enables you to limit people to download, print, copy, and even forward your emails and their attachments. So give you peace of mind and help you protect your information from leaks.
This feature also allows you to set an expiration date and the content of posting an email will automatically disappear so that the receiver can no longer view it. Additionally, you can choose to lock sensitive emails and allow recipients to access messages only when they are sent to their password via text or email. How to set an expiration date or password to email on Gmail
On the phone
- On your Android phone or iPhone, open the Gmail app
- Tap writeclick on the upper right corner Confidential Mode. If you have enabled Confidential Mode, you can go to the bottom of your email and click edit.
- Now, open Confidential Mode. Now you can set this message to an expiration date of 1 day, a week, a month, or even 5 years.
- If you choose “No SMS Password”, recipients using the Gmail app can open the message directly. However, if you want the receiver to enter a password before reading the email to verify its identity, you can use the password and select SMS password. And, when you send this email, you will need to add a phone number. Just make sure you enter the recipient’s phone number, not your own.
- Tap complete
On the computer
- Similarly, on the desktop version of Gmail, click write.
- In the lower right corner of the window, click Turn on confidential mode. However, if you have email enabled, go to the bottom of the email and click edit.
- Now, to set the expiration date and password, select “SMS Password** and the recipient will get the password through a text message.
- Click save.
How to open an email sent in confidential mode
If the sender sends an email in confidential mode, you can view the messages and attachments until the expiration date or until the sender deletes access. And, remember that the options for copying, pasting, downloading, printing, and forwarding of message text and attachments are disabled and you may need to enter a password to open the email.
