For WhatsApp users, there are some ways to figure out if someone is blocking you on an instant messaging app. WhatsApp has always been ambiguous about telling its users whether they are blocked because it is designed to maintain user privacy. The messaging application doesn’t explicitly tell you if you’re blocked by someone, but there are several metrics to know if someone is blocking you. Here is a way to find out if you are blocked.
WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, has proposed some metrics to check if someone is blocking you on the messaging app. However, remember that these metrics do not guarantee that contact may prevent you.
How to find out if you are blocked on WhatsApp
Check the last view/online status
One of the easiest ways to check it is to find its last seen or online status in the chat window. However, since they may have disabled it from the settings, you may not see their last see either.
Check profile photos
If a person blocks you on WhatsApp, you may not be able to view their profile picture. However, if you are able to view the person’s profile picture and have been blocked, you may not be able to see their updated profile picture.
Send a message to a contact
If you send a message to a contact that has been blocked, you can only see a check mark on that message, rather than a double check mark or a blue double check mark (aka read receipt).
Call the contact person
Any attempt to call a contact may not pass. When you answer a call, you will only see the call message. However, it can also happen if the receiver of the call does not have an internet connection.
Create a group on WhatsApp
If you try to create a group that you suspect might block your contacts, the process by making the group will only lead you to that group.
