
Yoga has become a cultural connection that connects individuals from different continents, while the annual celebrations of International Yoga Day evolving in a global phenomenon. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj” and means “join” or “yoke”. It is the way to positive changes in the body and mind.
After he came to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of an international yoga day at the UN General Assembly. The United Nations acknowledged its universal appeal and declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day of Resolution 69/131.
This year he imagines the 11th International Yoga Day and PM Modi led the celebrations from Visakhapatnam.
Here’s a look at how Mr. Modi celebrated International Yoga Day between 2015 and 2025:
2015: Rajpath (Kartavya Path)

A massive yoga demonstration took place on Rajpath and Mr. Modi called it “Jogphath”. With the exception of “Vrikshasana”, he followed the entire protocol of the normal yoga protocol, which was compiled for a record attempt at Rajpath to mark the world’s first international yoga day.
“Yoga for Harmony and Peace” was the slogan of the first international day of yoga.
2016: Chandigarh

Modi led the second International Yoga Day in Chandigarh and built an ancient Indian discipline as a viable solution for countries with low health budgets. More than 30,000 people were attended by a 45 -minute yoga in the Capitol complex.
2017: Lucknow
Massive exercises and demonstrations of yoga took place all over the country and in the world of the third day of yoga, when Mr. Modi led from Lucknow. Mr. Modi, who addressed the huge assembly in Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, said: “Traditional practice has now become part of every person’s life.”
2018: Dehradun

Mr. Modi performed yoga with more than 50,000 enthusiasts in the campus Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun and said that ancient Indian discipline became a “strong unifying” force in a world of destroyed dispute. “Dehradun to Dublin, Shanghai to Chicago, Jakart to Johannesburg, the Himalayan Highlands or the Sun of the Desert, Yoga enriches millions of lives around the world,” he said.
2019: Ranchi
India celebrated the Fifth International Yoga Day 21 June 2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other ministers and key leaders of BJP, led the yoga demonstration, attended by thousands of citizens in Prabhat Tara Ground in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
2020: At Home Celebrations in the middle of Covid-19
With regard to the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Yoga 202 Day was celebrated on the digital media platforms and there were no mass rally. The theme was “Yoga at home and yoga with the family”. In his nearly 15 -minute address, Mr. Modi said that because of the pandemic, the world felt more yoga need than ever. “If our immunity is strong, it is very helpful in the defeat of this disease. To increase immunity there are several methods in yoga, different” asanas “are there. These” asanas “are such that they increase the strength of the body and strengthen our metabolism,” he said.
2021: Yoga “Ray of Hope” in the middle of Covid-19
Mr. Modi described yoga as a “beam of hope” and a source of strength in the middle of the coronavir pandemic in 2021. In cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), he also spoke about the application of M-Yog. This app contains videos about yoga training based on a common yoga protocol and is available in different languages.
2022: Mysuru

Yoga brings peace to our universe, said Mr. Modi when he led the main event of International Yoga Day against the background of the Mysuru iconic Palace. Thousands of people joined the Prime Minister in a demonstration of mass yoga. “All this universe begins from our own body and soul. The universe begins from us,” he said.
2023: UN headquarters

2024: Srinagar

When he deals with the 10th International Yoga Day at the Sher-I-Kashmir International Congress Center in Srinagar (Sketch), with Lake in the Background, PM said that those who practice Yoga Modi also said that 100 institutes in India and 10 major foreign institutes were recognized by the Yoga certification council established by the Ministry of Ayush.
2025: Visakhapatnam

The Prime Minister led the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations and took part in the yoga at the event in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister said on this year’s international yoga day, “Yoga for one country, One Health”, he said he expressed the basic truth: the well -being of all life on Earth is interconnected.
