As a result of Stampede in Tamilaga vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President and Rally of actor Vijaye, who killed 41 people, Karur Government College Hospital has turned into an unprecedented reaction to emergencies.
Inside the hospital, doctors, nurses and employees worked on a war base. Almost 85 doctors reported within a few hours after the incident, and about 90% of the hospital staff appeared without being convened, the officials said.
“Our own team was enough to follow, but doctors from Madurai and Tiruchi also threw themselves to provide support,” said the higher official.
Government and private ambulances also worked in Tandem. “That night was a nightmare. I made three trips within a few hours. Despite chaos, the public collaborated with us and cleaned up,” said R. Velayutham, a private ambulance driver.
Mortuals became the busiest part of the hospital. Almost 20 postgraduate students from nearby medical faculties, including Salem, Tiruchi and Namakkal, were developed with police permits to perform postmort. They worked at night and completed 39 bodies on Sunday afternoon.
The pressure was not just medical. “Manipulation with non -medical persons who accompanied patients was a challenge. The emotions were high and the crowd control inside the space was difficult,” said the higher doctor. “But with the help of the police and our employees we managed to do,” he added.
Laboratory technicians, operating and support employees worked together with doctors and nurses to maintain operations. Officials said the hospital, such a test in the years after Covid, did not meet, but on this occasion increased, the key was teamwork.
