When people stand behind the environment, change is bound to happen. Through years of consistent efforts and work on the ground, these organizations in the Ernakulam region have been able to make a difference in their own way. From protecting mangroves to creating databases through documentation and involving students and local communities in their projects, these collectives and individuals strive to ensure that conservation is not a one-time activity, but a way of life.
Based in Vypeen-Nayarambalam, this environmental organization focuses mainly on mangrove conservation, which it has been working on since its inception in 2021. “We don’t consider ourselves environmental activists, we are just a bunch of people from this region who are really interested in the environment and are willing to do their bit to protect it,” says Manoj Kumar IB, one of the members of Grassroute.
