Human Rights and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday condemned former Minister Ambati Rambabu for “insulting” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s mother.
During the debate on the Motion of Thanks for the Governor’s Address in the Legislature, Mr. Lokesh questioned how such remarks could be dismissed as “two small words”. He said insulting any woman, especially a mother, cannot be taken lightly.
He refuted the allegations leveled by YSRCP Legislative Council Chairman Botch Satyanarayan and YSRCP MLC B. Israel regarding the arrest of Mr. Ambati Rambabu and their claim that law and order in the state had deteriorated.
“The coalition government is not engaging in the politics of revenge but will crack down heavily on anyone who speaks disrespectfully about women,” he said.
The minister made it clear that whether it is about the mother of the Chief Minister, the mother of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy or any other woman, the government will not tolerate derogatory remarks. He called upon the leaders of the opposition parties to clarify whether Mr. Ambati Rambabu’s statement was right or wrong and asked what measures had been taken in similar situations under previous governments.
