Bobby Deol, 56, still defies age with his sharp looks and chiseled figure – a transformation that relaunched his career in Animal and left younger actors scrambling to keep up. While many wonder what keeps the Humraaz star slim and muscular, California gastroenterologist Dr. Palaniappan Manickam (popularly known as Dr. Pal) has dissected the actor’s disciplined eating habits in a new video.
According to Dr. Pal, Bobby’s fitness at age 56 isn’t just the result of time in the gym. Its basis is a permanently clean, balanced diet based on moderation, considerate portions and minimal processing.
How Bobby Deol Stays Fit at 56, Explained by Dr Pal
Bobby starts his day with eggs, but keeps portions under control. Dr Pal notes that eggs are an excellent source of protein and are even part of his own weight loss journey. He points out that egg whites offer lower-cholesterol protein, while yolks can be eaten in moderation. The real problem, he says, is when eggs are cooked with heavy butter, cheese or oil, which makes the dish high in calories.
- Flexible access to carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are not the villain, emphasizes Dr. Pal – timing and quantity are important. Bobby avoids bread on days he wants to limit carbs, but adds healthy options like oats or bread with eggs when his activity is higher. This flexible method of adjusting carbohydrates to fit energy needs, he says, reflects a deeper understanding of nutrition.
Oatmeal is a regular part of Bobby Deol’s meals. Rich in complex carbohydrates and fiber, they support stable energy and better digestion. Dr. Pal points out that the type of oats matters – instant varieties with added sugar should be avoided. The actor’s choice of fiber-rich foods shows that his focus goes beyond building muscle to maintaining gut health.
- Lean proteins and vegetables
Bobby’s meals often include grilled chicken, fish and lots of leafy greens. According to Dr. Pal this classic combination supports a lean body structure: lean proteins help muscle regeneration, while vegetables provide the necessary fiber for digestion. Light cooking methods – less oil, simple spices – make a significant difference.
Despite his rigorous fitness routine, Bobby doesn’t miss out on traditional home-cooked meals like dal, squash or lentils. Dr. Pal says these nutrient-dense foods deliver nutrition without excess fat or sugar, helping him stick to his routine without feeling deprived.
The only gap: sleep
However, Dr. Pal points out a major flaw in the actor’s otherwise disciplined regime – he sleeps only four to five hours a night. Poor sleep, he explains, limits muscle recovery and reduces the benefits of a clean diet and regular exercise. Rest is just as essential as food for long-term fitness.
