At least one person was killed and 13 others were injured during mass shooting early on Sunday for a home party in Southeast Houston. According to the police, violence began shortly after an uninhabited guest was asked to leave the family event.
The police department in Houston began to receive 911 calls about shots fired around 12:50 in the morning arrived officers in minutes and reported hearing of shooting as they approached the scene.
“It has been chaotic from the beginning,” said police chief assistant Patricia Cantu to journalists during the morning briefing. “The officers arrived to find several victims with gunshot wounds into and around it.”
Sagittarius launched fire after being averted
Investigators believe that the suspect was a party who became violent after he was told to leave. A family party was running. An uninvited guest appeared, he was asked to leave, and the individual began to shoot, explained Canta.
Initial shooting reportedly triggered the answer from the others at the party who were armed. “The other individuals pulled out weapons and started returning fire,” she added.
The celebration scene has turned into a tragedy
The record video from the place showed overturned tables, scattered folding chairs and the remaining food and drinks under the tent and outdoor tent – visual remnants of the celebration shortened by violence.
The fire brigade in Houston replied to the scene and treated some victims in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant. Others reportedly made their own way to hospitals.
“At least one person is confirmed by the deceased. Several others are in critical condition and undergo surgery,” Cantu said.
Ongoing investigation, no arrest yet
On Sunday morning, the police detained several individuals for questioning, but did not confirm if the shooter was between them. “We are still trying to determine who the real shooter is,” Cantu said.
Police spokesman Houston Joda Silva later confirmed that there were no arrest.
“Still very complicated”
The investigation remains active, with the officers selecting the neighborhood and reviewing the shots. “It’s still very complicated,” Cantu said, noticing a large number of witnesses and chaos of the moment.
