Since torrential rain continues to dough Thrissur District, several houses across several talks suffered damage due to fallen trees and strong winds. The District Administration launched auxiliary camps and issued preventive instructions.
In Talappilly Taluk on Saturday, a teak tree fell on the house in the village of Varavur, which caused partial structural damage. In the village of Eathatinjhi, the roof of the house was partially torn in strong winds. A house in the village of Manalur crashed a tree of jackfruit, while in Chavakkada he landed on the house a branch from the jackfruit tree and caused severe damage. In Chellakode, the house was damaged after the tree fell on the building.
In Mukundapuram Taluk, the tree collapsed on the terrace of the house in the village of Padiyoor and partially destroyed the structure. A similar case was reported in a house in the village of Pulimatmam in Kodungalloor Taluk. In Thrissur Taluk, two houses in the village of Kurumbilava and manuals were damaged after the trees fell on them.
Embossed camps
With more families who were forced to evacuate, the district administration launched three active embossed camps. They are located in Methala Community Hall in Kodungalloor, Government JB School, Cherpu and GVHSS, Cherpu. At present, 132 people from 33 families participated in these camps.
The district collector Arjun Pandian ordered all departments to remain high standby. The authorities were asked to take preventive measures against landslides and manage the dams with maximum caution. The collector also emphasized the need to ensure the safety of the population in vulnerable zones and to maintain coordination between departments to effectively manage extraordinary events.
