The Ongole Municipal Corporation (OMC) has fined a hotel in the city ₹5,000 for dumping garbage on the road.
According to sources, the action was taken after OMC Commissioner Dr. K. Venkateshwara Rao found workers of Yuvraj Biryani Point Hotel on Guntur Road dumping garbage on the road.
The hotel management assured the officials that they will not violate the rules in future and added that they will follow the waste management guidelines as prescribed by the company.
Earlier, OMC had launched the ‘Well-being Out of Waste’ (WoW) program to create awareness about proper disposal and disposal of waste. Swachh Mitra activists educate residents about waste management, hygiene and cleanliness.
