
HORROR PAHALGAM: Tuesday was the usual day in Baisaran, a popular meadow surrounded by dense forests, in the hillgam of southern Kashmir, until the fateful afternoon.
As hundreds of tourists moved around, the peace of space was broken around 15:00, when a group of militants, reportedly four of them in military uniforms, emerged from dense forests and opened up with indiscriminate fire and killed at least 26 people, mostly tourists, including two foreigners.

The terrorist attack, one of the deadliest in the recent history of Jammu and Kashmir, was carried out a day when the US Vice President JD Vance in India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a state visit to Saudi Arabia.

Baisaran is located on 5 kilometers from Pahalgam and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. Meadow, a popular trekking destination, is accessible only on foot or ponies. When the attack took place on Tuesday afternoon, no vehicles were available.
The PAHALGAM Web Development Authority (PDA) describes Baisaran as an engaging goal reminiscent of the European landscape. It is often called “Mini Switzerland” thanks to their long dark meadows that resemble those in Switzerland.
The dense pine forest, which gives the green carpet appearance on the meadow, provides a contrasting shade for the peaks of the snow mountains in the surrounding mountains, says the website.
Baisaran is also an ideal camp for trekkers who want to move up to Tulian Lake, which offers a panoramic view of the city and the Lidder valley.
The picturesque view of the Lidder River gives the place of charming attraction. According to the Tourism Department Jammu and Kashmir, the target is popular in summer and winter.

“The valley appears to be fresh emerald in the summer and is ideal for photographic sitting. Winters changes the background to snow wonders,” says the department.
The peace of the place was broken around 15:00 when the militants opened an unburnt fire.
How did the attack develop on Tuesday?
Between 145 and 15:00, a group of gunmen, of which 2-3, came from nearby forests. Militants started fire and killed at least 26, mostly tourists while injured others.
Eyewitnesses quoted by different media said the military uniforms began to shoot without distinction and raised fear between tourists. She added the absence of vehicles in the area.
