The left -handed versatile player only performed in the fifth and final test in the oval as a replacement for the injured Ben Stokes. He scored 6 and 5 in both shifts of a narrow six-running defeat, which meant that the series ended with a draw of 2-2. Bethell had previously impressed half a century in each of the three tests during victory in England 2-1 over New Zealand. Its omission of most test series against India has evoked a discussion between fans and experts, especially after 58 out of 40 balls in the second ODI against South Africa. While he says he tried to block outer pressure, he admitted that he would like more playing time. “There was a little noise, but I don’t listen much. If I’m honest, I probably should have played a little more when I wasn’t in the test matches, but that’s something I take and learn,” Bethell Sky Sports said. He added that being around the team, watching a high intensity test cricket was valuable, even if he didn’t play much. “Playing for England is a dream come true, and hopefully I can do it for a long time.” Looking forward, Bethell will prepare in England T20is next week against South Africa and the captain of the side in Ireland and become their youngest captain. They are also expected to join the team for their white ball in New Zealand and travel to Australia as a spare dough for ashes. In addition, in the line for the Limited-Covers series in Sri Lanka and India, when England is preparing for the Men’s T20 2026 World Championship. “Now I look at what I have before us, and there is a lot of cricket, so the little space I didn’t play could be quite nice for me,” he said.

Do you think Jacob Bethell was supposed to play more in the test series against India?
Former English captain of White-Mi-Miin Mountains believes that time on the siding will be an important experience in learning for a young versatile experience. Morgan appreciated Bethell’s openness and willingness to grow and said, “When I see him with a bat and a ball in his hand or hear he is talking, he’s so hungry to learn. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you don’t want to learn, you probably won’t be too long.” Morgan also emphasized the balance between the player’s entry and the team management decisions and noted that while young players should take over their career ownership, the final decisions lie with coaching staff and leadership. “I have no doubt that it will be a lesson for Bethella and that it is moving forward, not only looking at what tours is happening, but it takes more responsibility for its own career and performance,” he added.
