Former Minister Haryan Bhupinder Singh Hood on Tuesday demanded a special relief package for the state from the central government and said that 14 lakh acres of agricultural land and 5,200 villages were influenced due to the flood.
He organized a press conference in Delhi and Mr. Hooda said he had visited the areas affected by the floods and the situation in the middle of the state was desperate.
“It is unfortunate that the state government did not declare Haryan for the affected state. The government should demand a package from the center,” he said.
Mr. Hooda was lined with the president of the Udai Bhan State Congress.
He said 14 lakh acres of crops were completely destroyed. “Thousands of houses have developed cracks. Trades, buildings and other equipment were damaged. To compensate for all this loss, a proper compensation for which the central government should announce a special auxiliary package for Haryan,” he said.

He added that the compensation announced by the state government was insufficient. He said farmers should get a compensation of 50,000-60,000 GBP for acre. Compensation of 7 000-15 000 GBP for acre is “mockery”, he said.
Mr. Bhan also repeated this demand and expressed displeasure over the attitude of the state government.
