Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Priyank Kharge announced that the state government will allocate ₹1 million each for the development of the indigenous villages of Bharat Ratna awardees and Jnanpith laureates who have contributed immensely to Kannada language and culture.
Speaking to presspersons in Kalaburagi town on Saturday, Mr. Kharge said the decision reflects the state government’s commitment to honor those who have enriched Kannada literature and strengthened the state’s cultural identity. “The RDPR department will take up development work in the birthplaces/birthplaces of these great personalities who worked tirelessly for Kannada,” added the minister.
Support for industry and agriculture is planned for Kalaburagi
In order to provide entrepreneurs with ready infrastructure to set up their industries, the government has set up a ‘Plug & Play Center’ at a cost of ₹ 16.80 crore under the Trade Infrastructure for Export (TIES) scheme at Nandur-Kesaratagi Industrial Area (Phase-II) on the outskirts of Kalaburagi.,
Similarly, in Nandur-Kesaratagi Industrial Area Phase III, the government would develop Electronic Manufacturing Industries on 36.89 acres, Chemical and Gas Industries on 48.80 acres, Plug & Play Building on 6.50 acres, Electronic Food Park on 5.2 and 41 acres. region.
Similarly, in Kapnoor Industrial Area (Phase-III), an ‘Auto & General Engineering Cluster’ is coming up on 20 acres where about 400 small and micro industrial units related to auto repair and engineering will be housed under one roof, explained Mr. Kharge.
Quick relief, crop compensation
Referring to the recent floods and crop losses, Mr. Kharge detailed that according to the survey so far, Kharif crops have been damaged in an area of 3,24,777 ha in Kalaburagi district. So far, 4,17,596 farmers have registered their details on the official portals, of which 4,15,996 applications have been verified and approved; and approximately 1,600 records are still pending.
The minister said about 94% verification of crop loss documents of farmers has been completed and assured that all affected farmers will receive compensation for crop loss within two weeks.
“The first installment of crop loss compensation under NDRF and SDRF norms will be directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts by next week,” assured Mr. Kharge. (yum)
He said the government stands firmly with the farmers who suffered as a result of the floods and will ensure timely relief and rehabilitation.
