An Indian student, identified as he Reddit, is looking for urgent help. His family left him and his brother abused him physically and mentally.
The poster from Arkansas escaped, but now he is a homeless in the shelter. He also claims to have lost his passport. Although he reported the police report and repeatedly contacted the Indian consulate in Houston, he says he did not receive any answer.
“I have no money, no documents, and no way to leave the country legally, unless the Indian consulate help me. I also contacted the Ministry of external things in Delhi, filed a complaint on Madad and even joined the international office of my university – but still no action,” he wrote.
The Reddit User urgently requires instructions to safely return home with dignity.
“If someone here knows how I can get help: • Indian consular officials • Human rights groups • journalists • Indian community organizations • Immigration lawyers • I would be grateful for any direction or support. I just want to get home safely,” Reddit added.
Social media rushes to help
Reddit users advised him while trying to lead him through the right routes.
“If you are a student or you are a student, address international student services, they can help with several immediate resources while you get an emergency certificate to fly back home … I’m sorry you’re in this situation. I hope you get better soon,” one of them wrote.
“I’m sorry for your status. Please start Gofundme. Connect all your documents. Save all and all the documents you have in your hand.
Another user suggested: “Contact the local mosque. They should have resources to help you. They could even be able to contact you a lawyer.”
“I’m in Houston – if you want, I can try to go to the Indian embassy on Monday morning and ask. I’m a regular joe, but if I can do something to help, like to,” came from another.
