Holiday on the bank today: In some cities, banks will be closed on Thursday, August 28, and the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi, according to the region-wound holiday calendar issued by the Indian Reserve Bank (RBI).
Banks are usually closed across different regions to observe national, religious and regional holidays. In addition, they remain closed on weekends, except for the first, third and fifth Saturdays of each month.
Banks are listed in the annual holiday calendar published by RBI in accordance with the Act on Tradable Display, which regulates the issuance of inspections and bills. Thus, transactions involving these tools are not allowed for specified holidays.
August 28 will be closed only in Goa and Odisha on the occasion of Nuakhai, a ten -day Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganeshy. Banks in the rest of the country will remain open on Thursday 28th August.
The second day Ganesh Chaturthi/Nukhai, Goa and Odisha are observed by agricultural festivals that celebrate the new rice of the season.
In Goa, Ganesh Chaturthi is known as Navyachi Pancham when the fresh paddy is brought home, offered in the Puja, and worshiped to look for a blessing for a good harvest.
In Odis, the day is celebrated as Nuakhai, during which the deities are offered the first grains of rice and then shared as a pig. This occasion is followed by music, dance and family gatherings to strengthen social bonds.
What transactions can you do when banks are closed?
Customers can continue to use online or mobile banking services during public holidays – if users notify for technical or other reasons. For cash emergencies, ATMs are open to selections as usual. People can also use the application of their relevant banks and UPI to facilitate payments.
While banks can temporarily affect the operation of bank branches, digital banking ensures that your transactions remain smooth.
