
The Asian Hockey Federation confirmed the final schedule of hockey 12. Asian Cup, which will take place in Rajgir in Bihar from 29 to August to 7 September.
The tournament will take place without former Pakistan champions who refused to travel to India referring to security concerns. President Hockey India Dilip Kumar Tirkey, spoken with or, explaining that India was ready to host Pakistan, but the team decided alone.
“The Asia Cup is a very important tournament in Asian hockey. Pakistan does not come for safety reasons. India has never refused them; refuses to come alone,” Tirkey said.
The Indian government assured visas for Pakistani players, according to PTI.
Meanwhile, Oman also withdrew from an eight -member competition. Kazakhstan replaced Oman in the pool and together with India, Japan and China, while Bangladesh filled Pakistan in pool B with Malaysia, Korea and Chinese Taipei.
The group phase will be followed by Super Four Round starting on September 3, with the two best teams from each pool.
Pakistan’s participation was a doubt about what tension escalated after a terrorist attack by Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. After India has launched the Sindoor operation to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure across the border.
The Asia Cup remains a key tournament in the international hockey calendar and offers the winner a direct bed for the next year’s World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.
