Hyderabad CEO Metropolitan Water Supply & Severage Board (HMWS & SB) K. Ashok Reddy has directed urgent repairs to correct the drainage situation near Akbar Plaza in Nalgonda Chowrast on Tuesday.
Traffic overload, police diversions and public inconvenience reached an alarming level because the waste water has overflowed on the roads in the last few days.
Mr. Ashok Redda, who carried out on the spot, said the severity was caused by a ten -year sewerage management, which is combined with a nearby GHMC rainwater drainage and heavy flow in the area, making it difficult to identify accurate damage.
He ordered officials to build a new line from the Nalgond Chowrasta on Malakpet Road under Bridge (RUB) to check the future overflows. In addition to the development of nearby sewer lines and manholes, it proposed to connect multiple lines with centralized output.
Hotel waste to the sewer line
On Tuesday, it was also found that the hotel adjacent to the Chowrast nalgonda illegally linked its sewer pipe directly to the HMWs and SBS line to eliminate daily waste, and mass waste of food was thrown into the diarrhea. This was identified as one of the main reasons for overflowing waste water and spilling on the roads, the officials said.
Mr. Reddy expressed displeasure and imposed a fine of RS. 10,000 on the hotel owner and ordered him to build a mud chamber within 10 days, which failed that the hotel would be closed for violations and causes public inconvenience.
Permanent solution
Mr. Reddy called for a comprehensive study of the situation of both HMWs and SB and GHMC officials, especially to identify the intersecting lines. It also designed the construction of separate sewer and rainwater to prevent future mixing and overflow.
