A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Government of Tamil Nadu and Hitachi Energy to expand its Global Technology and Innovation Center in Chennai with an investment of ₹2,000 crore. The MoU signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at the Secretariat is expected to create jobs for around 3,000 professionals.
In a post on social media, Mr. Stalin said the Fortune500 giants were not just investing in Tamil Nadu, but were reinvesting and expanding. “Each reinvestment demonstrates that Tamil Nadu is India’s industrial leader and a trusted global partner for innovation and growth.”
Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said the Chief Minister met the management of Hitachi Energy on Wednesday to finalize their next phase of expansion in the state – “a proposed investment of up to ₹2,000 crore that will create up to 3,000 new jobs – all of which are high-value, high-paying hi-tech jobs”.
Their Global Technology and Innovation Center in Chennai was already their largest global center with around 3,000 engineers managing more than 1,000 projects in 46 countries and they were already expanding in just two years, the minister said.
“This highlights the huge availability of talent in Tamil Nadu. Every reinvestment and expansion is a testament to Tamil Nadu’s unmatched talent and pro-business environment,” he said.
